The late photographer Peter Margonelli was known for his abstracted, painterly-like images. "On the Road at Noon," shown here, illustrates his talent for employing elements of atmosphere and motion to create highly charged, emotional landscapes. Photograph on archival paper.
Peter Margonelli was a photographer focused on abstracting the relationship between the industry and the natural world. Through various means of reducing his subject’s forms, whether it be the blurring of rain on a windshield or the flattening view of a landscape from above, he drawed attention to patterns and alignments in the contemporary industrial landscape. His images reflect a sense of an emotional landscape and inner world, more in-line with painters like Diebenkon than with a traditional photography practice.
