Antique Directoire-Style Painted Chest

This exquisite 1850s Directoire-Style Painted Chest is one of many new arrivals from Paris.  The unusual mauve coloring gives the piece a special playfulness as does the hand-painted decoration of leaves and berries on the drawer fronts and less visible decoration on the sides base.  Despite its age, the chest has maintained its color and, more importantly, its appeal.  It is in very good condition consistent with age.  The hardware is original.
