The Lockheed Constellation "Connie," was commissioned in 1939 by TWA's eccentric owner, Howard Hughes. The authentic model, shown here, reveals the plane's sleek, elegant appearance.  In 1946, the Connie broke the transcontinental speed record on a flight from Burbank, California, to New York City.  The plane also serves as Air Force One for President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the 1950s.
