Jeff Wallace Biography
Jeff Wallace is a multi-media artist whose work examines the relationship between time and memory through compositions and installations that rely on the use of repurposed materials, ephemera, and books. Trained in a broad range of disciplines (painting, printmaking, graphic design), Wallace favors a cumulative approach to composition, combining disparate sources and techniques to arrive at new forms and fresh narratives. As with memory itself, the resulting works function as both allusion and invention, their dense layers and invented structures embodying the gradual process by which reflection shifts to interpretation. An alumni of Purchase College (NY) with a BFA in Visual Arts (1985), he attended the prestigious Yale Design Program in Brissago, CH, before establishing BorsaWallace, a New York-based branding and communication design studio. Recent exhibitions include Circles and Squares at Rick Wester Fine Art, New York; RED at Site: Brooklyn, New York; and Processed Prose at Swenson Gallery, Miami, FL (2018). Wallace has been invited to participate in the Visiting Artist/Visiting Scholar Program at the American Academy in Rome, February 2020. He was an artist guest in October 2018 at Yaddo and a 2019 Fellowship Recipient at the Vermont Studio Center. In addition to his studio practice, he is co-curator of Main Window Dumbo. Wallace lives and works in Brooklyn.
