The Kirby chair, shown here, is a foley&cox favorite.  Interpreted from a classic 1950s Dunbar design, the chair offers a clean, modern look with its tapered legs and fully upholstered seat and back.  The Kirby chair is part of the foley&cox HOME Collection of custom furniture. 

The chair begins with a hand-built walnut frame on which a webbing is used to support the springs in the seat.  The springs are secured with jute twine using a traditional 8-way, hand-tied technique. The seat is then covered with burlap that is sewn to the springs.  Dacron and cotton is applied over the burlap and covered in muslin.  An additional layer of Dacron is added before final upholstery.
