Daniela Codarcea Kamiliotis is a fine artist, set, costume and fashion designer, book illustrator and creative personality involved in a wide range of projects from theater and film to personal exhibitions of paintings, drawings, mixed media and installations. Daniela designed costumes and sets for more than forty theater productions and five movies in her native country Romania between the years of 1978 and 1985. Daniela relocated to New York in 1986 where she worked on several theatre productions as the costume designer for the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival (As You Like It), and for Broadway productions The Secret Garden, Nick & Nora, Oh Kay and Romeo & Juliet in collaboration with Theoni Aldredge. Beyond her work in theatre and film, Daniela has had several personal exhibitions in Romania, Greece and the US. Her art is displayed in the National Museum of Romania and in private collections throughout New York, Washington, Paris, Athens, Thessaloniki, Como, and Zurich. In 2001 Daniela had a retrospective exhibition titled “Window in My Soul – The Studio” at New York’s National Arts Club. For the past 17 years, Daniela has worked with world renowned fashion designer Ralph Lauren as Senior Vice President of Design for Women’s Collection. Daniela continues to work as an artist producing new works from her studio in Connecticut as seen in the profile of her life and work in the book A Perfectly Kept House is a Sign of a Misspent Life by Mary Randolph Carter published by Rizzoli (2011).
