Michael Anderson Biography

Michael has been shooting consistently for 20 years but has been fascinated with photography since childhood. Shooting exclusively with black and white film, Michael processes in the traditional manner through an established lab in New York City. As the process is all done by hand, it allows for more hands on collaboration. Michael prefers the depth and tonal range that is intrinsic to black and white film versus digital capture and frequently adds custom toning to finished prints. All prints are of museum quality, printed on archival papers. Michael is a proponent of the "larger negative", enabling incredible detail to the captured and utilizes medium format and large format cameras. Michael is currently the head of mens design at Banana Republic. His career in fashion includes leading menswear for such brands as Coach, Nautica, and Tommy Hilfiger. Michael is originally from New Castle, England. He currently resides in Weston, Connecticut with his wife and two children.
